Referees Regulations

Mandate

The committee oversees referee qualification and appointments, develops judging standards, and ensures fairness across official federation competitions.

Roles

  • Appoint referees to competitions based on qualifications and experience.
  • Train and develop referees through courses and workshops aligned with international standards.
  • Monitor performance through periodic evaluations to uphold rules and improve quality.
  • Set and update judging standards in line with global surfing developments.
  • Handle complaints and disputes during competitions fairly and promptly.
  • Coordinate with other federation committees, such as competitions, for integrated event delivery.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure fairness and integrity so competitions are judged without bias under international rules.
  • Develop referees through accredited training programs and deep knowledge of regulations.
  • Manage referee appointments by selecting the right officials for each championship.
  • Monitor and evaluate performance during and after events for sustained quality.
  • Review and update judging regulations and standards regularly.
  • Address appeals and disputes around officiating decisions professionally and fairly.
  • Engage international bodies to align local and global judging standards and participate in global forums.
